BUT, when I try to boot iMac normally, I get a grey screen with a small folder icon. Using Macbook Pro I can access the drive as a target disk and have been able to install OS X 10.5 and use Hitachi drive as a boot drive for the Macbook Pro. Disk Utility (from install CD) shows the drive is mounted and I can format, partition, etc. I cannot instalI OS X 10.5 from install disks. Any suggestions for getting iMac to recognize OS X files from Target Disk install? Because I could not access the hard drive in my PowerPC iMac G5 (system would not boot drive would not mount using Disk Utility not recognized by my Macbook Pro as a target drive), I replaced the original with a Hitachi Deskstar 3.5" 2TB 7200RPM SATA III 32MB Cache Internal Hard Drive 0S02861. OS X is on the drive (from install in Target Disk mode), but how can I access it for normal operations? Previously to installing the new hard drive, I changed the backup battery, reset PRAM/NVRAM.
